Toots & The Maytals just released their very new album

17. 06.2010 The new album of Toots & The Maytals is called FLIP AND TWIST and was released around 3 weeks ago. The legend went at the same time on tour trough the USA to promote the album. After his American tour he will continue in Europe, that’s why we will have the chance to see him on 3th of July in Ziznikov. The album was released on Toots own label D&F Music and you can download it on iTunes or Amazon.com or directly at www.tootsandthemaytals.com . FLIP AND TWIST is already at number 20 of the international album charts and in the category reggae at number 61., in the category Caribbean/Cuba number 68, which is by the way the year, when he gave the genre reggae with his hit “Do the Reggay” its name. The album, from Toots by his own produced, is full of his vocals and arranges which is so much his style. On the album you find this in combination with R’n’B, gunk, gospel, blues and country. Toots got the 71th place in the poll about the best singer of all times in the Rolling stone. Hibbert is never getting tired, either he is in the studio or on tour. The 5th stage will be El Jimador Latino stage

29. 05.2010 We are music fans without any borders. That’s way we have a surprise for you: the 5th stage at the festival will be El Jimadors Latino stage, where you can dance to modern and traditional Latino music on Friday and Saturday from 5pm till the morning birds are sinning. There will be a lot of great deejays from around the whole world. Records will be spinning for example El Patron from Mexico, Senior Kolombia from Colombia, El Kmandante from Guatemala, DJ Tato from the Dominic Republic, Pedro Rodriguez from Cuba and DJ “Leon” El Rumbero from Congo. There will be also the British DJ Tuco or the Czech crew Abdul52 or Romario. Already last year Latino and Reggaeton had their place at the festival, but we are happy to have a whole stage this year. So lets dance the whole summer night long…

22. 05.2010 Greetings to all the fans and visitors of the festival page. We would like to sweeten your weekend with a lot of interesting news. We have the complete live stage program for you, where on Friday will perform the Jamaican headliner T.O.K & 303Band, General Levy from England, accompanied by the Solid Vibez band, which of course are also backing our Mr.Cocoman. Classics from home sweet home Czech Republic we won’t forget to list - Švihadlo, Fast Food Orchestra or Los Chuperos. On Saturday will perform the legendary Toots & The Maytals. And also Sin Sospechas from Venezuela, U-Cee & the Royal Family from Germany and the Danish winner of last years EU Reggae Contest Mystic Mc with his backing band Budapest Riddim Band. And also on Saturday a Czech Classic: Feher Kekete Kerek. Next to the live stage, which will be 2 days full of live acts, will at 4 other scenes selectors spin their desks!! At the 4th day of the festival there will be still 3 soundsystem stations open till 3a.m – Radio 1 Dancehall Yard, Mungo’s Hi-Fi Dubstation and FMP Foundation Corner. 22. 05.2010 This energetic and ambitious quartet named T.O.K. belongs already many years to the top of Jamaican Dancehall and has million of fans around the world. But in the end it is their talent, originality and perfect performances, which got them that far. And live on stage they are giving even 150% of all this. We are happy to confirm their show for Friday, 2nd of July at Žizníkov!

Deadly Hunta at RealBeat festival!

22. 05.2010 Did you hear already from somebody called Deadly Hunta? This extraordinary deejay is already many years connecting reggae, dancehall and hip-hop. We can’t wait for his set on Saturday night at the dancehall stage. Hunta was on tour already with artists such as Buju Banton, Wu Tang Clan or Ice T, he traveled the States with Supernaturals. His first great hit is called “Talk Out Load”, which got played at MTV Base and Channel U. Next to reggae and dancehall he is also working with other artists from the world of Drum’n’Bass like Photek (remix “Mamma Mia”) or Aphrodite ("Ganja Man") or Tekbz Movement. He traveled nearly around the whole world, from the States to New Zealand and performed at many festivals like LoveBox, Womad or BBC Electric Proms. In the last year he performed already in clubs in Czech Republic and Slovenia, but this summer will be his first open-air show in Czech Republic! This year for the first time at RealBeat: U-Cee & Royal Family

22. 05.2010 Another band we have confirmed is the singer U-Cee & Royal Family. In the Czech Republic is U-Cee already very known, but anyway it will be his premiere at RealBeat this year! We couldn’t resist, but invite him and his original band Royal Family, which got known as King Banana. U-Cee is now preparing his solo album in Czech Republic. After his first and successful single “No Ifs No Maybes”, he is releasing his second single “Time Is Running”, which you can find and listen on this page in the menu at “RealBeat tunes”.

We have confirmed Fast Food Orchestra and a 4th stage of roots reggae!

18. 05.2010 Another great Czech band is confirmed: Fast Food Orchestra! It was a “must be” for us, to have them on stage at RealBeat, after their big success last year. We all wished that the lovely band United Flavour could come this year, but they are busy working on their new album. We are looking forward already to hear the results next year! We have good news for all the roots-men of you: next to the concert scene, the dancehall stage and the Mungo’s Hi-Fi Dub station, there will be another roots reggae station, produced by Forward March!

General Levy confirmed!

18. 05.2010 On the live stage will perform the UK artist General Levy! The really fast deejay on the mic started his career in the late 80’s with the soundsystem Java and Tippertone. He also made tracks with producers such as Lloyed Crucial or Robbo Ranx, but the big success came in the jungle scene in the beginning of the 90’s. His hit "Monkey Man" from ’93 is following up to the classic from Toots & The Maytals, but mainly the one year later released hymn "Incredible" in the production of M-Beat knows for sure everybody. General Levy came at the right time with a new style in a new developing scene and made a jackpot. Since that time there was no going back anymore. His hit “Booyaka” got that famous, that even Ali G adapted it in his parody movie. But General Levy is not just dedicated to drum’n’bass. His way leads him always back to reggae and dancehall like a boomerang. We are recommending listening to his very new album SPIRIT & FAITH, where artists are hosting such as Jah Mason, Winston Irie and Ras Sherby. RealBeat is partner of the European Reggae Contest

17. 05.2010 Right now the new competition of reggae, dancehall and ska bands is starting- the EUROPEAN REGGAE CONTEST. This competition was already many years organized by the Rototom Sunsplash and now it’s known in whole Europe. Last year, when also for the first time bands from Czech Republic could try their luck, in whole Europe more then 400 bands applied and 10 of them were at the finale at the Rototom festival. In the year 2009 the winner was Junior Tshaka from Switzerland. Czech bands were competing in the first round against bands from Slovakia and Austria. At the finale in Italy last year was Mr.Cocoman & Solid Vibes from Prague. This year the winning band of the first round will perform at the RealBeat festival, on 3rd of July and will go straight to the big finale at Rototom festival!
